Hi. My name is Susan Scot Fry and I’m figuring it all out.
What do I do?
I have been employed full time since I was 18 years old. In 2009, I started asking “What’s Next?” How many years do I really have left? What do I want to do with them? The answer: Something Great. So, I left my career as an Entertainment, PR and Marketing Director with Renaissance Entertainment Corporation. Gratifyingly, they tried very hard to talk me out of leaving, but I did.
Over the next several years, I freaked out. I also created a living. I…
- Gathered a team and turned our non-profit theatre company into Shakespeare in the Park.
- Turned my childhood love of ghost stories into Caper Company tours. We do the Port Washington Ghost Walk and created a bunch of self-guided audio tours to places that are supposed to be haunted.
- Did lots of projects with a tv commercial and short film producer. Having run PR and Marketing for a big, big event meant learning a whole lot about creating commercials and related whatnot.
- Started an AirBnB and became super successful at it.
- In a flashback to a much earlier career, I took on a 4 year contract to obtain and maintain state permits for a company who repaired x-ray machines. COVID-19 Pandemic 2020 ended that, but hoot-all it helped pay some bills.
- And, a bunch of other little things that came and went and all put together made a living.
I also started this blog.

I may make comments or excerpt entries here as I go through the year and evolve my perspective and hopes for this exercise…

Today’s Significant thing is like all the other days. The focus today doesn’t indicate completion. Things are not all wrapped up in a convenient episodic package. I hope that by choosing something every day, that I am enhancing my repertoire and putting more and more in motion. That’s good. I like that.

It’s already obvious that my significant focuses are more about HOW I approach something versus the something I’m approaching.
